In both the cutting and welding of body parts, and the manufacture of vehicle components, the future belongs to innovative laser systems. It is often the advantages of laser technology that make new, efficient production processes possible in the first place: various thicknesses and qualities of metal sheet are welded together to form tailored blanks, laser seams replace electric spot welds – it is only with the laser that these production processes can be implemented economically.
In the macro range, ROFIN provides a portfolio of high-power CO2 lasers, beginning with the extre-mely low-maintenance diffusion-cooled CO2 Slab lasers, which are integrated in cutting systems by many machine tool manufacturers world-wide. In areas of applications that require flexible beam transmission through optical fibres, diode pumped Nd:YAG lasers of the DY series, solid-state lasers with excellent beam quality are used. The range of products is rounded off by compact, maintenance-free, high-power diode lasers for heat-conduction welding, surface hardening and soldering. They are characterized by a high efficiency of over 30%.
