The main advantage is the non-erasable, permanent and therefore forgery-proof labelling and marking of materials. Laser marks are virtually indestructable and cannot be falsified. These attributes are essential when marking Smart Cards and Identity Cards, as well as when applying forgery-proof identity marks or marking tamper-evident labels.

Laser technology presents one of the most environmentally friendly methods of labelling and marking. Since laser marking does not require solvents or caustic chemicals as in other processing methods such as printing, pollution to the environment is reduced and savings are also made in purchase price and disposal costs.
