FOCUS ON FINE SOLUTIONS

In the Micro range, the ROFIN Group develops systems for processing the smallest parts, down to the µm range. Whether cutting, welding, drilling or ablation – the processing of the workpieces is carried out with the utmost precision and minimum heat-affected zone, even with the hardest alloys.

Starweld

The new StarWeld Generation from Rofin stands for intelligent solutions in a compact form at attractive prices. The whole family is modular, and comprises technologically high-quality components. The power supplies with IGBT switches ensure pulse frequencies of up to 4000 Hz, and a unique pulse-to-pulse stability. The CAN-bus based controller guarantees safety and flexibility for all present and future applications. These include pulse shaping, pulse ramping, on-line trouble shooting, and intelligent connections to peripheral devices such as galvanometer-controlled welding heads, pattern recognition or process monitoring.

Starcut

The new StarCut Generation stands for high quality and speed of cut in a compact form at attractive prices. The whole family is modular, and comprises technologically high-quality components. Allowing control to include pulse increments of 10 µs, dynamic power control, and on-line trouble shooting. The laser resonator, based on the proven StarMark rail concept provides high laser power with optimal brilliance of beam. Depending on the application, TEM00, TEM10, TEM20 or fiber-coupled, low-order-mode beam profiles are used. The fast shutter, with a switching time of less than 10 ms, permits holes to be cut in an economically attractive time.

Starshape

The new StarShape series from Rofin/Baasel Lasertech provides a large number of different lasers for micro-material processing. All StarShape series applications have one thing in common: the precise, local, selective ablation of areas of the surface of a component or tool by vaporization or vaporization-induced displacement of the molten mass. The lasers in the series can be used to structure surfaces, drill through-going or blind holes, or remove selected layers of substrates precisely to the micrometer. The materials that can be processed range from metals through ceramics and diamonds to plastics. To cover most of ablating micro-material processing, the StarShape series includes both Nd:YAG lasers in cw or Q-switched versions, and CO2 lasers. The available wavelengths thus range from green to within the infra-red end of the spectrum. Interaction times from the few nanoseconds of end-pumped solid state lasers up to the continuous-wave range, offer suitable laser solutions for all of the above-mentioned applications.
